The history of this unusual museum

The hydraviation museum in Biscarrosse pays tribute to the aeronautical base which was created in 1930. It is ideally located in front of the Atlantic Ocean, and receives the most famous aviators like Saint-Exupéry and Mermoz.
If the museum was created in 1982, it tells the whole history of the hydraviation since 1910! There are unique pieces and historical documents, as well as photographs relating the evolution of airliners from yesterday to today.

The museum of hydraviation today

With a strong focus on science and technology, the museum offers different tours, with the discovery of unique collections, and the history of these legendary aviators. In addition, it highlights the inventors of seaplanes, who also contributed to the rapid development of aeronautics.

12 seaplanes and 1200 objects are on display

In addition to this permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions are held every two years. They allow visitors to understand the importance of seaplanes in the history of aviation, and offer the discovery of life-size models.
Various themes are dealt with in turn, such as aeronautical photography, the route of the aircraft manufacturers or a focus on certain seaplanes that have been renovated thanks to a few patrons.
